Product reviews
Barbaresco Gallina is typically elegant with its refined bouquet and palate, and assertive tannins. It is the expression of a marl soil rich in fine sand. Red in colour with pale garnet tinges. Particular finesse in the bouquet, with balance and complexity, scents of ripe red fruit, spices and violets (typical of Nebbiolo). Mouth-filling tannins, excellent persistence on the palate. From the famed Gallina vineyard in commune of Neive - Neive's Barbaresci are said to be the most akin to Baroloi due to their complexity and depth. The family has this parcel on a long term lease from the Diocese of Alba, maintaing the vines,of ageup to 60 years, as their own.

The Oddero estate dates back to the end of the 18th Century. The winery and central vineyard holding are ina stunning natural amphitheatre in the renowned Santa Maria frazione of La Morra. They have a total of 35 hectares spread across the Langhe, some as small as ½ hectare.
5th generation Giacomo Oddero, born in 1926, used his energy to forge the modern iteration of this the family estate - one of the oldest in Barolo, first vintage bottled in 1878 – but also played a part in helping secure an aqueduct to bring a reliable water supply to the wineries of the region. And that’s not to mention serving as the mayor of La Morra, on the Chamber of Commerce and signing in the DOC & DOCG laws whilst on the Board of Agriculture. All the while developing the estate and its holdings split across some of the best vineyards in Barolo (17ha) and Barbaresco (2ha). Organic conversion of all plots was started in 2011.
The estate is now run by Giacomo’s daughter Mariacristina and her sister Mariavittoria’s children Isabella & Pietro. Traditional ferments, small amount of small oak for single vineyards malolactics, aging in large casks of 15 to 30 hl of predominantly Austrian with some French oak.
