Clare Valley, 100 kilometres north of Adelaide. The winery is stylish and functional and reflects the attention to detail that extends to the Grosset estate-owned vineyards and winemaking. Jeff is best known for his iconic Rieslings - Polish Hill and Springvale - and he has almost single-handedly been responsible for the renaissance of Clare Valley Riesling. By combining a disciplined approach and decades of experience, Grosset consistently achieves the purest expression of variety and place.

The Clare Valley Semillon is from the Grosset Springvale vineyard and the Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc is from a private grower in the central Adelaide Hills. The Semillon vineyard has a yellow/brown, thin-crusted topsoil over a slatey, silt stone of Mintaro shale. The vineyards are certified organic.

2015 was characterised as a fine, mild and early vintage. The Clare Valley had a very mild December and a cooler January, with just enough rainfall to keep the vines healthy. Crop levels were below average, very even, and grapes were picked in excellent health. Harvest started on 8th February and was one of the earliest and most compressed in 35 years. Grapes were hand-harvested by a team of 60 workers to ensure all the crop was picked at optimum condition.

The two varieties were fermented separately in temperature controlled stainless steel, with neutral yeast at moderate temperatures (15-18°C) and lasted around two weeks. No skin contact took place at all and only the free run juice was used. No fining to modify taste was practiced or necessary due to the hand picking and fruit selection at harvest.

The higher percentage of Semillon gives weight and definition to the blend, without taming the primal Sauvignon Blanc characters. White floral aromatics with fresh herb notes, an intense, tight core of pure nectarine and white peach flavours, and a zesty finish.
