Gaiospino comes from a selection of the healthiest fully-ripe grapes from the estate's amazing Spescia vineyard. Steeply-terraced, facing southwest and with the vines planted transversely across the hill on calcerous marl soil, this is a stunning location producing quality wine. 20-30% of the fruit is fermented in 500l oak and the wine remains on its lees, both in barrel and vat, for around 16 to 18 months.

Gaiospino is richly textured and full of aromas like a breeze of sun-dried herbs. muted tropical and pure white fruits this is balanced with great acidity and a strong core that will see it develop over time as well as drink superbly now. This is consistently recognised as one of the most profund and ambitious wines from the Castelli dei Jesi Classico Superiore category.

Lucio Canestrari & his wife, Fiorella De Nardo founded Fattoria Coroncino in 1981 and have been pioneering quality Verdicchio ever since. Their three vineyards comprising 9.5 ha of their total 17.5 ha and all lie within 3km radius of the winery. They produce around 50,000 bottles per year all from their own grapes. Altitudes vary from 250 and 400 metres and all wines are Classico Superiore, being from the heart of the traditional zone and from the lowest yields. They farm organically, grassing the vineyards since 1983, integrating insects and vine health since 1992 and have used no fertilizers since 1995. In their words:

?We are proud to say that we are not part of any winecentric association; we don?t believe in any dogmas and we pride ourselves in our use of common sense, in harmony with Nature. We want to produce healthy, natural, digestible wines both for our customers and ourselves?.

They are one of the saviours of Verdicchio, rescuing this region?s wines from a downward spiral of overproduction and a lack of attention that saw its qualities be squandered. The Marche DOC of Verdiccho dei Castelli di Jesi is centred on the town of Jesi, Province of Ancona and takes its name from the ancient fortifications of medieval times. Brushed with cooling breezes running up and down the East West river valleys, onshore to begin with and offshore later in the day, this is ideal white wine territory.
