While Bual does refer to a grape grown on the island of Madeira, or more correctly a group of grapes, it is a term more closely related with a style of wine. Madeira is a unique, high-acid wine that undergoes a cooking process to help develop its flavors and soften its texture. Bual is a medium-sweet style of Madeira, dark in color and packed with sweet raisin, toffee, nut and herb flavors. It is among the most complex wines of the world.
